BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Stuart Maconie will perform a DJ set ahead of the Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 7.

Stuart currently presents Radcliffe and Maconie, The Freak Zone and The Freakier Zone on 6 Music and is the winner of the 2001 Sony Radio Award for Music Broadcast of the Year.

As a journalist he has written for The Times, The Guardian, Q Magazine, Elle, Daily Express and was an assistant editor for the NME. On television, he presents BBC2’s I Love the 1970s and I Love The 1980s, and Channel 4’s Top Tens.

Craig Charles brought his Funk 'n' Soul show to Old Trafford in 2016

DJ Spoony got the party started in 2015

Growing up in Wigan, Stuart is a big fan of Rugby League and can’t wait to be part of Super League’s biggest night of the year.

“I’m really proud and flattered to be asked to play at the Super League Grand Final.

“It’s the absolute pinnacle of the sporting season for Rugby League, it’s the showcase game of the sport so it doesn’t get any bigger.

“It’ll be the biggest crowd I’ve ever played to, I’m slightly nervous but exciting things should make you nervous. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Maconie follows in the footsteps of previous Grand Final DJs Craig Charles, Shaun Keaveny and DJ Spoony, who both helped to kick the entertainment off in style at Old Trafford
