Josh Hardcastle doubles up as Featherstone ease through
Winger Josh Hardcastle scored a brace of tries as Featherstone Rovers completed a comfortable 30-4 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth-round victory over Oldham RLFC at the LD Nutrition stadium.
The home side went ahead through Hardcastle's 12th-minute opener - while Cory Aston added the conversion - and Richard Moore crossed six minutes later as Oldham went into the break 10 points down with no reply.
The visitors held onto a small glimmer of hope to pull the score back as Scott Turner's try four minutes into the second half reduced the deficit, but Kingstone Press Championship rivals Featherstone had other ideas.
Ian Hardman and James Lockwood crossed in quick succession around the hour mark as Aston kicked both goals, while the home side went further ahead with Hardcastle's second an effort from John Davies, with eight minutes remaining, putting the score beyond doubt for Jon Sharp's men.
